  • "What are the children doing?" ""They`re watching TV."
  • Look, there`s Emily! Where`s she going?
  • Who are you waiting for? Are you waiting for Sue?
B. Study the word order:

is/are   + subject   +   -ing

  1. Is he working today?
  2. Is Ben working today? (not Is working Ben today?)
  3. Where are they going?
  4. Where are those people going? (not Where are going those people?)

or
  1. "Are you going now?" "Yes, I am."
  2. "Is Ben working today?" "Yes, he is."
  3. "Is it raining?" "No, it isn`t."
  4. "Are your friends staying at a hotel?" "No, they aren`t. They`re staying with me."
Exercises

4.1 Look at the pictures and write the questions.

  1. (you / watch / it?) Are you watching it? No, you can turn it off.
  2. (you / go / now?) Are you going now? Yes, see you tomorrow.
  3. (it / rain?) Is it raining? No, not at the moment.
  4. (you / enjoy / the film?) Are you enjoying the film? Yes, it`s very funny.
  5. (that clock / work?) Is that clock working? No, it`s broken.
  6. (you / wait / for a bus?) Are you waiting for a bus? No, for a taxi.
4.2 Look at the pictures and complete the questions. Use:

4.3 Make questions from these words. Put the words in the right order.

  5. Are you sitting on the floor? No, I`m not.
